TEACHING YOU TO LOVE YOURSELF FIRST, THROUGH BODY PAINTING AT PAIGE CHERRY DESIGNS
I'm a portrait artist, graphic designer and tipsy teacher from the South Coast of England.
My art challenges our relationship with imperfection and highlights beauty in the normal and every day. My goal is to use my art to bring people together, wether that's over a painting I have created or at one of my Paint & Pinot classes.
Hi! I'M a nude portrait artist & DESIGNER FROM THE SOUTHCOAST.
ARTIST: PAIGE CHERRY
WHEN DID I START PAINTING NUDES?
In lockdown I decided (like everyone else) I needed something to pass my time and fulfil my days. I didn't know where to start, so I used a painting prompt on instagram. From here I digitally painted a nude portrait using ProCreate and absolutely loved it.
Like many others I have always struggled with my body image, in a world where social media promotes the ideas of "the perfect body" and body trends throughout the years it's not too shocking. So I wanted to use my art to challenge that: and show that your stretch marks, cellulite and bumps are all normal and make you, YOU.
In 2021 I dropped a series of nude portraits called NUDE21. This series was 10 paintings of women from all around the world who had sent me nude photos of themselves to work from. The models were ordinary people who wanted to see a new perspective of themselves and they came from all around the globe from Portsmouth all the way to New York.
Now I work on a commission basis taking orders for customisable nude portraits. I also run bi-weekly painting classes in Southsea, Portsmouth. Teaching people how to paint female nude portraits in a relaxed setting with wine and tapas.
EDUCATION & EMPLOYMENT
I studied Illustration at Portsmouth University from 2016-2019 and predominately worked with digital illustration and screen-print. From here I went on to work at an Art Publishers creating digital artwork for companies such as: Laura Ashley, TK Maxx, John Lewis & more. The company was unfortunately affected by the 2020 pandemic, so I then went on to become a Graphic Designer and Media Manager for multiple bars & restaurants in Portsmouth.
